Mozart’s great choral opera charts the path of Idomeneo, King of Crete, as he navigates literal and figurative stormy seas on his return from the Trojan War. For this staged concert performance, conductor René Jacobs makes a rare New York appearance, joined by “exemplary” Mozart tenor Jeremy Ovenden (Sunday Times) in the title role. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra accompanies the action, and choral parts soar with Vienna’s Arnold Schoenberg Choir.

“Thought-provoking and always compelling.” —Gramophone on René Jacobs and Freiburg Baroque Orchestra
“The fine tenor Jeremy Ovenden, who has sung most of the major Mozart roles all over Europe, sings with an engaging commitment to these joyous creations.” —Observer (U.K.) on Mozart Arias
